The Artificers Masonic Motorcycle Association or AMMA as it is known was formed around the middle of 2011 by disenchanted ex members of The Widows Sons MBA, three Presidents, W.Bro Chris (Necromancer) Parker from the old Catuvellauni Chapter, W.Bro Ray (Sparky) Sparks, from the old South Eastern Chapter, and W.Bro David (Selous) Weeden from the old 16084 Chapter joined together to form a national Masonic motorcycle association that was to be 100% UK based without any outside influence with closer Masonic Values and ideals. They were joined by members of their perspective chapters in the shape of Chris (Sooty) Ray who came in as Treasurer, Colin (zinc man) Walington who was to take on the mantle of Road captain or as we call it D.C. and David (Hammer) Baruch who came in as secretary. Also joining as founder members Ma Baker, FedEx, Piper, Magoo, Mikey, Parky, Coltack, Boxer, Scottie, and Little Martin.
It was decided at a very early stage that new members should ‘Prospect’ or spend a period of up to 12 months in which time they would have to attend sufficient rides or meetings to prove they have a commitment to the association. This was to discourage ‘patch collectors’, members who buy a patch and are not seen again, therefore preventing ‘loose cannons’ riding round and causing problems in the name of the association. This has proved so successful that we even have a situation where we have ‘hangaround's’ who are waiting to enter freemasonry having gone through the interview process with their various lodges so that they can join AMMA. As well as prospects proving their commitment.
AMMA is not a 1% Club. MC, or MCC, neither does it admit members of other Masonic Biker organisations, however it does admit members of factory, or make specific clubs and clubs like British legion Riders. It also restricts its membership to riders of machines of 500cc and/or Classic machines.
